Description

"There is a strong relationship between the United Kingdom and New England, built on the wealth of our many historic, academic, business and cultural connections. But this relationship is also firmly based in the present, and a shared commitment to scientific innovation and technological advance. We are proud to promote British excellence in this dynamic part of the United States, working with New England's commercial, scientific and political communities to stimulate the exchange of ideas and the development of our common interests."

The British Consulate General is located at 1 Broadway in Cambridge, MA.

The United Kingdom and New England have an interesting relationship. For most of their history, they have been the closest of friends, but from the period of about 1763 until about 1800, they were mortal enemies. Sort of like a true father and son. Which is why I made New England Britain's son. Plus the name similarity.

Around 2.3 million people in New England have some British ancestry, which is 15% of the population. Most of those, approximately 1.7 million, are of English descent. If you add in the Irish population, which was under British control until 1922, that's nearly 5 million people, or 1 in 3 New Englanders. Needless to say, the relationship between New England and the UK is very close today. If you want to see how close it really is, take a look at the British Consulate General in Boston's website: [link]

While I'm not sure which relation would be strongest, the relationship between the United Kingdom and New England is one of the closest.

And before you ask, yes, Britain really represents just England, but on the international stage he stands for the entire UK, hence the kilts. And also, it's a myth that all Scottish men wear kilts all the time, just formal occasions. In this case, I'd imagine that Britain and New England are attending a formal international event together, and are looking in a mirror of some kind beforehand. Not many New England men wear kilts to formal affairs, so New England is a little apprehensive.

I know, I know. There are ways to draw tartan that looks more realistic, but I like this method. I've seen how other people do tartan, but it doesn't usually follow the folds in the fabric. That's why I like to individually draw the tartan, pixel by pixel. It fits better, even if it's more time consuming and doesn't look as realistic.

Anyway, now I've done all the requests I've gotten. So, I leave it to you. Who should I do next? For the list, take a look in my journal.

Very nice Prince Charlie outfit there! Also you've done the fly plaid exactly how it looks when it hangs over the shoulder. I'm impressed!
