Consular Series - Austria

Description

The Consulate General of Austria is located at 15 School St in Boston.

You all knew where this was going, didn't you? I'll admit, it was sort of a no-brainer. Austria loves classical music, and New England likewise has a world-class symphony: the Boston Symphony Orchestra, better known as the Boston Pops. And here's where we get the idea of cultural superiority. Could be that New England spent too much time with Austria in his youth? But yeah, most New Englanders, especially those near Boston (nearly 40% of New England's population lives in Greater Boston), the world looks like this: Boston is the centre of the universe, Worcester marks the beginning of the frontier, Springfield the beginning of the savage-lands, and New York might as well be another continent. We're very full of ourselves that way, and pride ourselves on having one of the longest histories in Anglophone North America, and believe that the rest of the continent should follow our example. I'm not going to comment on that one way or the other; it's up to you guys to tell me if it's deserved.

Of course though, New England and Austria are both very invested in what they're playing. I envisioned them playing something akin to Schubert's 'Ave Maria' or 'Nearer My God to Thee.' Something heartfelt like that. And yes, New England is playing the violin left-handed. It made the aesthetics of the picture work better, and there are studies that show that lefties are on average smarter than righties. Again, take that as you will.

I can't tell you what percentage of the New England population is Austrian. Most descendants of Austrian immigrants are identified on the census records as being German. How's that for ya? I can tell you the most famous Austrians amongst the general American populace, the von Trapp family, did open a ski lodge in Vermont. It's still there and quite popular from what I've heard.

And finally, the background is Jordan Hall, a performance space at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.

So yes, next up is the UK! And after that, I'll need some more input from you guys. So start thinking about that.

New England - Me
Austria/Hetalia - Hidekaz Himaruya

EDIT: I changed my mind about the music. They're playing Ashoken Farewell ([link]). And the thing that happens right after this happens to be New England going the total opposite direction from this song, much to Austria's surprise (and chagrin I'm sure) with The Contradiction ([link])!

So, according to the song links, does New England play Celtic songs?
